Elia Group is looking for a Solution Architect Service

Mission context

For the Solution Architecture function within the IT Architecture department, Elia Group needs a qualified and dedicated Solution Architect.

A key aspect in the mission of the Solution Architect is to ensure Elia optimizes its IT infrastructure and Application Landscape — and to do that, we need a qualified and dedicated solution architect.

Ideal candidates excel at designing or adapting technical solutions to address business challenges while simultaneously modernizing the application landscape.

The solution architect will be deeply involved in transformation initiatives serving Elia Groups business units located in Belgium and Germany, regularly interacting with business and IT stakeholders, and subject matter experts.

Service description (Job Responsibilities)

As a member of the Digital Division (Division D) of the group, the Solution Architect will:

  • Adopt and analyze constraints, non-functional and functional requirements.
  • Conduct appropriate decomposition within the specifics of the business capability resulting in relevant Solution Building Blocks using recommended Architectural styles and patterns (based on Reference Architectures)
  • Serve as the key link aligning all relevant stakeholders in the Product Organization, the Architecture team as well as the delivery team.
  • be part of the delivery team as such ensuring solution delivery in accordance with the design.
  • Deliver Architecture Designs in accordance with Elia Groups’ Architecture Vision, standards and guidelines.
  • Provide designs following your experience in integration design, application architecture, and available tools.
  • In the design lifecycle, following the governance structures (Design Boards) for gating and decision making (using techniques such as: ADR, ATAM)

Requirements

The consultant must meet the following requirements:

  • At least 6 years of relevant experience in the position of Solution Architecture
  • Able to work autonomously and take initiative for engaging with people at all levels
  • Is result oriented.
  • Have an Agile mindset, working experience in an Agile environment is a plus.
  • Experienced in applying IT Standards, such as ArchiMate, TOGAF, ATAM, CBAM
  • Able to work in a team and is always open for feedback from his/her peers.
  • Familiar with Architecture Modeling Languages such as Archimate. An experience with Sparx Enterprise Architect is a big plus.
  • Familiar with the principles of Domain Driven Design (DDD), and the principles, opportunities, and challenges of modern architectural paradigms such as microservices and event driven architectures. And knows how to apply them.
  • Always keen to learn new things, share your knowledge, embrace change and learn from past experiences. Drawing on a whiteboard to facilitate a debate comes natural to you.
  • Fluent in English & German. Supplier and procurement documentation and meetings with external parties will be in English or German. Knowledge of these languages is mandatory. The consultant will collaborate with French, Dutch and German speaking team members. Knowledge of those 3 languages is a plus but not mandatory.

Additional information

  • Location: Working location will be in Brussels Empereur
  • Meeting and desk activities will be split between the two Elia Group locations Emperor Building in Brussels, and the 50Hertz Netzquartier in Berlin (2 days every other week on average).
  • In case of travels to Germany, Elia will cover all costs.
  • 2 days on site is required
  • Important: for non-EU candidates, please present candidates who comply with the following criteria:
  • Possess a work permit allowing the individual to work in Belgium.

Hold a valid residence permit confirming the right of residence in Belgium.
