You will work on:
a backend in a loud‑native environment that powers the automation of internal IT workflows at KBC. It sits between the analytical data lake, and My Kate, the digital assistant used by all employees. Every day, enriched datasets flow from the data lake into bacjebd. The backend processes this information, applies business rules, and sends personalized notifications and to‑do items to My Kate — for example to support onboarding of new colleagues or end‑of‑lease device handling.
This project is built entirely on an existing java backend framework and modern integration standards on an openshift platform. As a developer, you’ll work on microservices that ingest data, evaluate business rules, and communicate securely with other platforms. You’ll ensure that notifications and tasks are generated correctly, handle error scenarios in data pipelines, and contribute to a reliable and secure automation engine that will be used daily across the entire company.
We are looking for developers who are comfortable with backend engineering in a cloud‑native environment, ideally with experience in Java/Kotlin, REST APIs, and microservices. You should understand data ingestion (e.g., S3‑style storage, file‑based flows), secure system integrations, and machine‑to‑machine communication. Experience with OpenShift/Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and enterprise authentication (OAuth, tokens) is a strong plus. A logical mindset is important, since much of the work involves translating business rules into clean, testable logic.
If you enjoy combining backend engineering, data processing, and meaningful automation in a modern technology stack, this project offers an opportunity to help build a strategic system from scratch and directly impact the digital experience of thousands of employees.
